Kick-Boxing

Dominique VALERA
Dominique VALERA

Full-contact :

Full-contact with low-kick :

Kick-Boxing

Dominique VALERA

Dominique Valera is considered the pioneer and co-founder of kickboxing (Full-Contact or American Boxing) in Europe. Kickboxing is a sport that originated in the early seventies from a combination of foot techniques from karate and punches from boxing. There are four ways to compete in kickboxing: semi-contact, light-contact, full-contact, and full-contact with low-kicks. All of these systems are practiced worldwide. Forms (katas) are the fifth form of competition.

- A combat sport practiced with specific rules using both foot and fist techniques.

- A true sport that requires technical knowledge, physical fitness, tactical intelligence, moral qualities, flexibility, and a lot of determination.

- A modern sport that has evolved with the latest discoveries in physiology and is open to innovations from research.

- A safe sport that requires participants to wear protective gear on their feet, shins, gloves, a helmet, a mouthguard, and a groin guard or chest protector to minimize the risk of injury.

Semi-Contact:

In semi-contact fights, foot and fist techniques are used but only scored. Unrestrained blows that could result in a knockout are prohibited. In competition, the fight is stopped after each point. This sport is popular among young people because the risk of injury is minimal.

Light-Contact:

Light-contact differs from semi-contact in that the fight is only interrupted if there is a foul.

Full-Contact:

The goal of full-contact is the knockout (K.O.). Fist and foot strikes are therefore violent and unrestrained. Due to the risk of K.O. or injury, it is essential to have experience in light-contact before competing in full-contact.

Full-Contact with Low-Kick:

Full-contact with low-kick is a variation of full-contact where strikes to the thighs are allowed.

Musical Forms:

Forms are sequences of techniques simulating a fight without a real opponent. Judges score based on the quality of the performance. The sequences (katas) presented can be from another combat sport or from the competitor's imagination, with or without music. There are three competition styles: hard, soft, or with weapons.

Kickboxen

Dominique VALERA
Dominique VALERA
